On 19th June 2017 we were heartbroken to hear the news of Otto Warmbier. A young and gifted man has had his life taken from him in needless circumstances and was the victim of a disproportionate punishment. Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with his family and loved ones.
As a consequence of this tragedy, there is a growing consensus that it is no longer safe nor appropriate to continue selling North Korea tour packages to American citizens. Thus, Visit North Korea, as an affiliate who works with given partners, will as a result no longer be accepting U.S clients upon its own packages and will, with partners, conduct a necessary review into extending this notion.
Nevertheless, we would like to emphasize that for non-American citizens, tourism to North Korea remains a safe enterprise and is trouble free. By upholding the given rules and safety considerations thousands of foreign visitors continue to travel to the country without incident.
